7- 10 minutes of an uplifting reading
Early this week, I stumbled upon a very fine article by Mark Manson, recommended by readsomethinggreat.com (https://markmanson.net/question). He wrote that the type of struggles we prefer can indicate where we’re likely to succeed and enjoy the process. He offers a fascinating concept that our preferred struggles are rooted in our core values and will pave our way to achievements.
Who you are is defined by the values you are willing to struggle for. Our struggles determine our successes. So, friend, choose your struggles wisely.

Harvard Business Review describes core values as the deeply ingrained principles that guide our actions and serve as personal pillars. In my previous post, I wrote about being resilient and finding our core values. However, it’s Mark Manson’s writings that made me realize understanding our values is not just insightful. It’s a game-changer for success. It steers us toward challenges we love and are passionate about, no matter how tough, fueling our extraordinary resilience, perseverance, and determination. It’s essential for achieving success. Haven’t explored your core values yet? There’s no better time to start than now.

As we approach 2024 in 2 days, I am developing my goals around my core values. Inspired by Alexis Kingsley’s YouTube video, “How to Set Systems instead of Goals”, I began by listing down my life dream. Always remember to align these life dreams with our core values, ensuring they spark your passion and drive you relentlessly forward.
Once you have developed a list of life dreams, move on to what Kingsley terms the “Dream Management System”. This system enables us to cascade our life dreams into actionable-hourly tasks (as illustrated in the funnel diagram from Life Dreams (Life) to Hourly Activities (Hours) (refer to below picture).

I have already embedded links to both the insightful Manson’s article and Kingsley’s YouTube videos for your reference. Let’s embark on personal goal-planning for 2024 together. May the upcoming year bring an abundance of blessings, joy, and success to you and your loved ones. Aameen. 🙂
