There are More Books than You Think Behind My “Now Reading…”: The Perks of Juggle-Reading

, , ,

Do you have a daily hobby that keeps you mentally sane? If not, you probably should get one. I’m doing my hobby as my day job, and I still need something to distract me from the tension. If yes, what is yours? One of mine is 15 minutes, at minimum, of daily reading.

Daily routine jobs, whether at home, work, or school, can put a heavy weight on our shoulders. It is delightful to have something to look forward to whenever you feel drowsy, unmotivated, unfocused, or low energy.

Thus, I usually accomplish 12 – 32 books a year. If you imagine that I consistently read one book in the period of a month, you will be disappointed. I can read one book in the course of either 1 day or 2 years, depending on how fascinated I am with the book.

You may think, if I decide to purchase the book and start reading it, I must be interested in it, right? Yes, of course. However, sometimes you think you are interested in something. It turns out that it is not enjoyable for you once you open it and get to know it closer. And I rarely get rid of a book in the middle of reading. I usually continue reading it because, hey, sometimes we are just going through a lousy chapter, not a bad book. So, I typically give it a chance and persist in reading it until the last page, despite my awful experience.

No, I am not that patient; I am just a tricky avid reader. One of my tricks is I juggle-read; I read several books simultaneously. Of course, we must focus on one book at a time to grasp the messages. But when I lose my reading sparks, I refocus on another book. By doing this, I preserve my reading excitement. In addition, my reading will suit my need and situation.

Suppose I am currently reading Start-Up Nation to gain business innovation insight, and suddenly I feel low and need positive vibes. In that case, I will turn my head to Anne of Green Gables.

There is no limit to how many books you juggle as long as you can still grasp the messages and not mix up between stories because you have to take in too much plot. For me, 3 – 4 books are the most optimum numbers. Besides, I always take notes to avoid missing the authors’ morals or stories.

So, what hobby is keeping you sane? Do you also juggle between books like I do? Let me know what you think in the below comments box.

  • Discipline Equation: Equation to live by

I talk about the roulette table of my life. It’s a frame I think through where we wake up in the morning with these 24 chips. If you spend 8 hours sleeping, you wake up with 16 chips left. And how you place those chips on this roulette table that sits in front of us…

  • Inshaa Allah, Allah Mampukan…

  • Don’t Let the Slip Becomes a Slide

Lately, I feel like everything is going wrong. I am not interested in doing much activity during the weekend. And the creepiest part is, that I am very anxious about welcoming the Monday. It is so not me as I was always very excited about work. So I did a little contemplation and self-check this…
